As a campus or fraternal housing administrator, you have the duty to provide a211u001esafe environment for the college students housed in your facilities. You are 211u001efaced with a number of different issues competing for your attention and for the 211u001elimited resources available to address them. You must decide how to best allocate 211u001eavailable resources among competing demands and interests. To make these 211u001edecisions wisely, you need to understand the risk factors involved, the 211u001ealternatives available to you and the relative costs and benefits of the 211u001edifferent options. The purpose of this report is to provide campus housing 211u001eadministrators, fraternal organizations and others responsible for housing 211u001ecollege students with an overview of the elements of fire safe student housing. 211u001eThe goal is to present a balanced approach that will permit housing 211u001eadministrators to make risk-informed decisions regarding the costs and benefits 211u001eassociated with different fire safety features and levels of fire protection. 211u001eAdditional resources that are available to help in the development of a 211u001ecomprehensive program for fire safe student housing are also identified.
