摘要

The purpose of this report is to describe and determine processes affecting DO211u001econcentrations in the lower reaches of Middle Fork and South Fork Beargrass Creek 211u001ein Jefferson County, Kentucky. This description and determination are based on 211u001econtinuous DO concentration data and data on processes affecting DO 211u001econcentrations collected during low-flow periods in the summer at selected 211u001elocations along reaches affected by CSO to Middle Fork and South Fork Beargrass 211u001eCreeks. the continuous DO concentration data and related information were used to 211u001ecalibrate a steady-state, one-dimensional water-quality model (QUAL2E) to 211u001esimulate DO concentrations in the lower reaches of Middle Fork and South Fork 211u001eBeargrass Creek. Because these reaches are affected by CSO, the identification of 211u001ethe major processes affecting DO concentration in these stream reaches may be 211u001eused to make an assessment of whether eliminating CSO inputs would have the 211u001epotential to appreciably improve stream-water quality in these reaches with 211u001erespect to DO.
