摘要

The Shooks Run Watershed consists of 1924 acres located in the unglaciated Allegheny Plateau, an area comprised of low foothills with relatively smooth slopes and a broad, gently sloping valley. The entire watershed is located in Barbour County, West Virginia, which has an area of 345.41 square miles. Shooks Run flows east about 2.5 miles through the suburb of Mansfield, a community of a few hundred homes, and empties into the Tygart River near the historic covered bridge in Philippi. This document represents a cursory assessment at the watershed level that will highlight problems and opportunities for further work. The study, by design, is short and concise in scope. It will serve as a foundation document that can be used (and supplemented if necessary) to seek funds of all types from federal, state, local, or private sources.
