The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division (Wage and Hour) is211u001eresponsible for administering and enforcing a variety of laws that establish 211u001estandards for wages and working conditions in this country. Wage and Hour's 211u001emission is to increase compliance with these labor standards laws through 211u001eenforcement, administrative and educational programs. The Fair Labor Standards 211u001eAct (FLSA) of 1938, as amended, sets froth minimum wage, overtime, child labor, 211u001eand record keeping requirements for all covered employers. Wage and Hour has for 211u001ea number of years focused its compliance activities on low-wage industries-211u001eindustries where violations are more often egregious and complaints less common.
