摘要

The report describes the results from testing of Nordic spruce (Picea abies) in211u001etension and bending. The objective was to establish particular strength classes 211u001efor visual grades for glulam laminations of Nordic origin and to establish 211u001emachine settings directly to the tensile strength and stiffness properties. The 211u001emain tests were carried out on 1600 pieces of 40x145 mm timber from eight 211u001esawmills in Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Additional test were carried out on 200 211u001epieces of 40x95 and 40x195 mm timber from four sawmills to establish depth 211u001eeffects. All timber pieces were run through all strength grading machines and 211u001ewere visually graded according to the Nordic visual grading rules INSTA142. 1400 211u001etimber pieces were tested in tension and 400 in bending (only 40x1456).
