The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences was charged by Congress211u001eto prepare and submit an evaluation of the potential human health effects from 211u001eexposure to extremely low frequency electric and magnetic fields (ELF EMF). To 211u001eevaluate the quality of the science and the strength of the evidence on EMF, the 211u001eNIEHS organized a comprehensive review of the data which included three science 211u001esymposia and a working group meeting. The goal of the Working Group meeting was 211u001eto perform a critical review and evaluation of the research data on ELF EMF 211u001eexposures and potential biological and/or health effects. Scientists both within 211u001eand outside of EMF research were selected as members of the Working Group 211u001erepresenting a wide range of disciplines including, engineering, epidemiology, 211u001ecellular and molecular biology, medicine, mathematics, neurobiology, pathology, 211u001ephysics, statistics, and toxicology.
