摘要

The purpose of this project was to improve our understanding of oral healthoutcomes in diverse, dentate adults. The contract title was 'Biomedical and psychosocial risk factors for tooth loss', and the research project was named the 'Florida Dental Care Study'. A sample of 873 persons was obtained at baseline and was was followed for a two-year period. A substantial amount of information was learned from this study about clinical measures of oral disease and tissue damage (tooth loss, coronal and root caries, bulk restoration fractures, cusp fractures, root surface defects, periodontal attachment loss), oral pain and discomfort, oral functional limitation, oral disadvantage, self-rated oral health, attitudes toward dental care and dental health, and dental care use. A description of each these aspects of oral health is detailed in this report.
