This study examines the user population and their satisfaction with the PhysicianData Query (PDQ) database. PDQ was originally targeted to physicians only, but the value of the information included in the database was recognized as of value to the larger community of nurses, researchers, health educators, and librarians, as well as patients, and friends. PDQ is distributed to these audiences by the original on-line services, by CD-ROM, facsimile, hard copy, and electronic networks, including the Internet. The users surveyed for the study include both primary users, or those who access the PDQ database to fulfill their own research needs, and secondary users, who only conduct searchers for others.
