Recent studies and field work have indicated that perforating with a highoverbalance may be more effective than conventional underbalanced perforating. This project evaluated the novel approach of high overbalance perforating with foam. A large block stimulation experiment resulted in a skin factor of -1.39 and a 2.9 fold increase in flow rate compared with an unstimulated open-hole configuration. Invasion of the formation by the foam liquid fraction is minimal; clean-up of liquids during post-stimulation is effective.
