The American Anodco, Inc. site, a former anodizing facility, is located in theindustrial zone area in the eastern part of the City of Ionia, Michigan. The waste water in seepage lagoons at this site was allowed to seep into the ground and the lagoons were filled with clean soils in 1987. There is some evidence that groundwater at the site is contaminated with arsenic, boron, nitrate and nitrite, 1,1,1-trichloroethane and traces of tetrachloroethylene. There may be some potential health risk to the public if groundwater at this site is used for drinking and other household purposes in the future. Monitoring well OW-6 should be sampled again to confirm the concentration of 1,1,1-trichloroethane, if any, present in water from the well.
