Environmental agencies at both the state and national level are beginning tofocus on glycol gas dehydration units as possible emission sources that require regulation. This has prompted some states to begin the process of tabulating glycol dehydrators for possible permitting. To determine the economic impact of regulation on a national level this study delves into the current status of the gas dehydration market. The study estimates the number, type, size, and age of natural gas dehydrators within the United States. Additionally, the growth potential of the market is estimated with special attention given to the possibilities of new technologies emerging to replace glycol dehydrators and the barriers present to prevent their success. This study also investigates the perceptions of the dehydration industry on such topics as operating costs, environmental compliance costs, and market growth.
