摘要

The purpose of this assessment is to examine chlorpyrifos and diazinon usage inthe ornamentals and sod industries as well as the economic impact on these industries if these chemicals were to be discontinued. These chemicals have numerous trade names and formulations and are registered for a broad range of insect and mite pests on ornamentals and sod. The ornamentals and sod production industries are among the fastest growing components of U.S. agriculture, accounting for 11 percent of all farm crop cash receipts. The ornamentals industry is divided into two production areas, floriculture and nursery, which are handled separately in the assessment because the plants grown are very different.
