The Traffic Engineers of the City of Philadelphia made a list of corridors inneed of re-signalization. For the study, Fairmount Avenue from Pennsylvania Avenue to 15th Street is selected for re-signalizing by simulating and optimizing its signals under existing conditions using TRANSYT-7F computer program. All relevant data is collected by conducting manual field studies and coded to feed into TRANSYT-7F. A simulation run is performed to find out the problematic links (uni-directional traffic movements), average delay per vehicle, fuel consumption, and performance index.
