The research project addresses two areas of the INDOT interest. The area ofimmediate interest was to assess the suitability of using 10 m resolution SPOT satellite data as a digital image within its GDS GIS system for purposes of updating and spatial correction of Indiana roads. The second area of INDOT interest was to integrate land cover information derived from computer analysis of Landsat TM data into GDS to provide supportive information for transportation route development and using planning purposes.
