摘要

The morphology, biochemical reactions and resistance to antibiotics, heavy metalsand inhibitors was studied in five wild type and five plasmid-cured Thermus strains. Plasmid elimination was associated with changes in colony morphology, pigmentation, and adherance. All wild type strains grew above 70 C, but not at 35 C, whereas the reverse was evident with plasmid-cured strains. Wild type and plasmid-cured strains were oxidase, catalase and beta galactosidase-positive, indole-negative, reduced nitrate to nitrite, hydrolysed esculin but did not produce acid from glucose. Gelatinase and amylase activity was present regardless of the presence or absence of plasmids, however starch hydrolysis changed from restricted to diffuse on plasmid elimination. Caseinase was plasmid associated in one strain. With a few exceptions, the strains were positive for assimilation of
