摘要

The National Park Service sponsored a workshop in Tucson, Arizona, in May 1988 to discuss issues associated with the effects of acid deposition and air pollution on desert ecosystems. There were twelve papers delivered on aspects of research and monitoring in park units in the desert southwest. Subjects covered in these papers include: (1) current levels of acid rain, dry deposition and gaseous air pollutants in the desert southwest, (2) sensitivity of desert ecosystems (plant communities, rock pools, cryptogamic crusts) to air pollution, and (3) sensitivity of cultural resources to air pollution. The discussion includes some management recommendations for Federal Land Managers to attempt to control the effects of air pollutants on desert parks and reserves.
