Lithium precipitates are obtained by thermal annealing of magnesium oxide single crystals implanted with this metal. Those under 200 Å size have an unusual face-centred cubic structure (a = 4.4 Å) and are in simple orientation with the matrix. For a size above 400 Å, the structure is body-centred cubic (a = 3.51 Å) and the orientation with respect to the matrix is : (011) Li // (111) MgO and [111] Li // [011] MgO.
