Sudaryanti, S2302030, VOTER’S BEHAVIOUR WITHIN THEudPATRON OF INTERPERSONAL AND MASS COMMUNICATION USAGE INudTHE 2005 LOCAL MAYOR ELECTION AT SURAKARTA (A descriptive studyudabout civil servant behaviour within the patron of interpersonal and massudcommunication usage in the 2005 local mayor election at Surakarta ), Thesis,udPost Graduate Program, Sebelas Maret University, 2008.udThis research tries to describe the voter’s behaviour (civil servantsudbehaviour of Surakarta municipality) within the patron of interpersonal andudmass communication usage in the 2005 local mayor elections at Surakarta. Theudresearch question is how the civil servants of Surakarta municipalityudbehaviour within the patron of interpersonal and mass communication usage inudthe 2005 local mayor election at Surakarta ?.udTheories developed in this research is devined from voting behaviourudon the basis of Afan Gaffar oppion that quoted by Muhammad Asfar. Thisudtheory involves three models or approaches in determining, that are:udSociologic, psychologic and rational politic approarch. Besides founsing onudrational politic approach, this research is also using mass communicationudtheory; mainly the effect of uses and gratifications model, and interpersonaludcommunication theory. That is information seeking behaviour model. Thoseudtheories are combined to get clear description about the voters’ behaviour.udDescriptive approach is used in this research and single case is chosenudas the strategy. Interview, observation and documentation are chosen as theuddata collection tool. The data, then, is trianggulated to get verified andudvalidated. The analysis involves three major components that are dataudreduction, data presestation and conclusion.udThe research reveals that there is paradign changing that effects voters’udbehavior among civil servant. Politic party where the candidate belong,udpolitical issues/programs raised by the candidates and candidate manner are theudmain orientation for the civil servant to vote to. The orientation encourages theudvoter to use mass media to get more information about the candidate. Theudvoters then is confirmed the information got from the media with friendsudand/or college.
