Many upland communities in northwest Yunnan, China, are agropastoralist. Agropastoralist livelihoods in the region are characterised by close interactions between crops and livestock, and by seasonal transhumance. Agropastoralist communities are relatively marginalised by technical service agencies and policy making processes.
