Rapid development of new technologies has not bypassed formwork industry. Formwork systems are becoming ever more specialized and sophisticated making the choice of the most suitable system an intricate process. Along with formwork properties, the designer has to be familiar with local factors of choice. This thesis deals with these formwork choice factors and compares the classical formwork system, VARIO GT24, and modern "panel" formwork systems, TRIO, and MAXIMO. Through design, construction and contractor dependent factors are introduced. Differences between formwork concepts are immediately apparent. Classical systems elements are designed according to the construction requirements and positioned according to the design. Panel systems provide already prepared elements which are positioned in such fashion that they meet the construction requirements. This thesis analyses the advantages of all three systems. In given conditions the use of VARIO GT 24 formwork system is the most suitable solution. Material costs are the critical criteria of choice in the circumstances. Analysis shows the influences other factors of choice have on the formwork selection. In given circumstances they don't influence the choice, however they can't be ignored because they can become relevant in appropriate conditions.
