The method includes: the terminal device receives an indication of a first mapping relationship from a network device, the first mapping relationship is one mapping relationship in a pre-configured first mapping relationship group, the first mapping relationship group includes at least one mapping relationship for indicating at least one correspondence between the number of reports of the space domain vector and the number of reports of the frequency domain vector; the terminal device determines the number of reports of the space domain vector and the number of reports of the frequency domain vector according to the first mapping relationship. Therefore, by predefining multiple possible correspondences between the L value and the M value, the selection range of the number of reports can be narrowed, the selection range of the number of reports can be narrowed, which is helpful to reduce the calculation amount and the instruction overhead of the network device to determine the number of reports.
