The present invention relates to a dumbbell connector for combining two dumbbells to form a barbell, a system comprising the dumbbell connector and two dumbbells, and a method of connecting two dumbbells. The dumbbell connector comprises a first portion 14 and a second portion 18 extending on opposing sides of an intermediate flange 16. The first and second portions are configured to cooperate with a first and second dumbbell respectively in use. At least one of the first and second portions 14 and 18 is insertable into the respective dumbbell. One or both of the portions 14 and 18 may include a threaded portion 20.
