A method of manufacturing a product comprising: analysing a product design 203, inputting mate points through a user interface for parts of the design which are coupled, determining a sequence of abilities using robot tools to make the product that meets a set of requirements and creating control codes for the sequence, simulating 251 the fabrication of a virtual product using the control codes, verifying that the control codes correctly manufacture the product and manufacturing the product using the control codes. The method may consider the cost, product weight and speed of production. The mate points may be displayed on a user interface to allow a user to input couplings for each of the mate points.
