A sensing system 100 for use on a bicycle includes a processor 102; a wireless data transfer module 120; a location sensing module 106; and a power supply 104; wherein the sensing system 100 is arranged to connect to one or more sensor modules 108,110,112, and the power supply 104 is arranged to supply power to the processor 102, the wireless data transfer module 120, and the location sensing module 106. The power supply 104 may be a battery or a dynamo. The sensor modules 108,110,112 may measure air quality or use an accelerometer to indicate road surface condition.
