The present invention relates to a composite vehicle body component 10 comprising a first and a second composite layer 12, 14; and one or more electrically conductive substrates 16 between the composite layers. The second composite layer may comprise one or more apertures 180 at one or more locations, and one or more of said electrical substrates may extend across said one or more apertures such as to receive an electrical connector. The electrical connector may comprise a bolt 400, 410 used to secure another article to the composite component, such as a seat to a vehicle body tub, and the electrically conductive substrates may comprise one or more of electrical circuits and / or data circuits. The first and second composite layers may be carbon-fibre, and an electrically insulating layer, such as a bonding layer, may be located between the composite layers and one or more of the electrically conductive substrates. A method of manufacturing such a composite vehicle body component is also disclosed.
