The invention proposes a method for generating an elevation mask map of a geographical area, the elevation mask map comprising a set of points of the geographical area and, at each point, mask values d. 'elevations for a set of azimuths with respect to the point, the method being implemented by a device comprising at least one computer, a memory, and a communication interface, and comprising the implementation of the steps of: - obtaining, for locating a vehicle, at least one item of azimuth and elevation information for at least one obstacle to reception of a satellite signal by the vehicle, from a generated GNSS signal by the vehicle, and for each of the plurality of vehicles, and aggregation of the information received for each vehicle to generate the elevation mask map.
