The invention relates to a tool control system (1) comprising at least said tool and at least one fixed anchor (5), the tool being at least provided with an ultra broadband type radio communication means, and a memory. The at least one fixed anchor (5) is provided with an ultra broadband type radio communication means, a control means, and a memory. The radio communication means of said tool (1) and said at least one anchor (5) communicate bidirectionally control or command information, and tool location information. In this way, the ULB network is not only used to determine the location of the tool but also to exchange data dedicated to its operation with it. This type of network is less sensitive to radio reflection phenomena and can exchange tool command and control data very quickly.
