The invention relates to a device (1, 15, 18, 25) for cooling a strip-shaped product, having at least one cooling beam (2, 26) with a coolant chamber (3, 27) and several coolant outlet pipes communicating with the coolant chamber (3, 27) (4, 28) for applying a cooling liquid (22) to the strip-shaped product. In order to increase the accuracy of the cooling of a strip-shaped product and to realize this cooling more cost-effectively, the device (1, 15, 18, 25) has at least one device (5) for the sudden introduction of a pressure fluid into the coolant chamber (3, 27).
