This disclosure provides automatic partial braking when driving downhill. Methods and devices are disclosed therein which carry out automatic partial braking when driving downhill. An exemplary device disclosed herein includes electronic powertrain control to slow a vehicle in response to a first request from electronic speed control, the first request being in response to a change in slope of a tread, and electronic brake control to apply partial brakes in response to a second request received from the electronic speed controller to the vehicle, the second request being in response to a speed of the vehicle reaching a maximum speed.
