The invention relates to a method for producing a multilayered erosion and corrosion protection layer with at least one metal layer (2, 4) and at least one ceramic layer (3, 5), the metal layer being deposited on a base material (1) of a substrate, and the deposition the metal layer and the ceramic layer are carried out by plasma-assisted physical vapor phase deposition, first a plasma-assisted etching of the base material (1) and then a Cr layer being deposited as the metal layer (2,4) and subsequently a layer as the ceramic layer (3,5) predominantly has CrAlN. The invention also relates to a correspondingly coated component.
