The invention relates to a method for building up a component (2) in layers, in which method a powdery material (4) is applied in the form of layers (5), and in each layer (5) is irradiated in some areas by means of a radiation source (6) and thus is solidified, characterized in that in addition a welding filler material (16) is kept in the shaped state and is at least temporarily welded by build-up welding in the course of the layer-by-layer construction.
