Disclosed are an apparatus of optimizing a PID parameter of a ship and a method thereof. The apparatus of optimizing a PID parameter comprises: a simulation model generation unit for generating a simulation model corresponding to an actual system installed in an actual ship; a PID control unit for inputting a control input value for driving each control target included in the simulation model over the entire range of an operation section preset for each control target; a transfer function management unit for generating a transfer function model corresponding to each control target by using operation data generated while each control target is driven over the entire range of the operation section and accumulated; and a parameter optimization unit for deriving a PID parameter value for calculating the control input value which connects the transfer function model corresponding to each control target and a predetermined PID control formula to reach a set point (SP) within the least amount of time, by using a predetermined optimization algorithm.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
