According to the present invention, an intelligent mold layout design apparatus based on 3D CAD comprises: a modeling DB unit for storing a part 3D model library in which a number of part 3D models including 3D property information are registered, a product 3D model corresponding to a product to be manufactured, 2D layout information generated in a process of modeling, and 3D model information generated based on the 2D layout information; a modeling interface unit for arranging one plane of a selected part 3D model among the part 3D models on a 2D plane after calling the product 3D model and the part 3D model library, and generating a 2D layout on the 2D plane by using the 3D property information; a 2D layout engine unit for generating a 2D layout for a mold by using the 2D layout information; and a 3D modeling engine unit for generating 3D modeling for the mold by using the 2D layout information so as to display the generated 3D modeling on the modeling interface unit.
