The optical film (50) with a pressure sensitive adhesive comprises a first pressure sensitive adhesive layer (21) having a thickness of 3 μm to 30 μm on one side of an optical film (10) having a polarizing plate, and a second pressure sensitive adhesive layer (22) having a thickness of 50 μm or more on the other side of the optical film (10), wherein a first protective sheet (31) and a second protective sheet (32) are releasably attached on the first pressure sensitive adhesive layer (21) and the second pressure sensitive adhesive layer (22), respectively. When the residual stress of the second pressure sensitive adhesive layer (22) is S_2(N/cm^2), the thickness of the first protective sheet (31) is Y(μm), and the thickness of the second protective sheet (32) is Z (μm), S_2, Y, and Z satisfy the following relationship: 20=Y=80; 45=Z; and Y+0.17Z+10.6S_2=63.
