Disclosed is a camera calibration method, comprising the steps: obtaining at least one image taken by a camera, said image comprising an image of a target object, the target object having a display device, said display device being suitable for displaying geographic location information of the target object; extracting from the obtained image the image location information of the target object in the image and the geographic location information displayed by the display device; and calibrating the camera according to the image location information and the geographic location information extracted from at least one image, so as to determine, according to the calibration result, the geographic location information of each object within the range of photo-capture of the camera. Also disclosed by the present invention are a roadside sensing device and smart transportation system which use the described calibration method.
