The method according to the invention for determining the influence of a laser machining parameter on a laser machining process by means of a laser beam (5) comprises the following steps: (a) carrying out, in particular automatically carrying out, linear laser machining processes (12) at different values (W1 to W5) of the laser machining parameter, wherein the feed rate (v) of the laser beam (5) is increased in each of the laser machining processes (12) at least until a machining crack occurs; and (b) determining, in particular automatically determining, the relationship between the machining lengths (L), the associated machining times (t) or the associated crack speeds (vA) of the laser machining processes (12) and the laser machining parameter on the basis of the measured machining lengths (L1 to L5), the associated machining times (t1 to t5) or the associated crack speeds (vA,1 to vA,5) of the laser machining processes (12).
