The invention further relates to a method (900) for monitoring a vehicle (1010) travelling in road traffic, and/or for controlling a vehicle (1010), travelling in road traffic in an automated manner at least some of the time, using the method (400) for lossy compression. The invention further relates to a compression module (90), camera, radar module or LIDAR module (91). The invention further relates to a computer program.
