The present apparatus is configured in the form of an on-bottom enclosure and comprises a rectangular base with modules mounted thereon. The base of the enclosure is made of a sheet of netting, is held in place by perimeter cables and by diagonal, longitudinal and transverse cables of interior tensioning lines, and is tensioned and secured to the seabed by means of anchors that provide for the reliable fastening of the enclosure to an area of the seabed at precise coordinates. A module of the enclosure comprises a bottom and inner walls and lateral walls, forming identical-sized cells, the lateral walls and inner walls of the modules being perpendicular to the base of the enclosure. The bottom of the module is made of a sheet of netting and is held in place by perimeter cables and by cables of interior tensioning lines. The lateral walls and inner walls of the modules are made of a sheet of netting. The lower edge of the walls of a module are fastened to the perimeter cables and to the cables of the interior tensioning lines of the bottom of the module. The upper edge of the walls of the module are fastened to a positively buoyant cable, to which a float is fastened for holding the lateral walls of the module in a vertical position. The apparatus allows mariculture species to be densely accommodated in a state of relative freedom without the need to be fed during their growth period, right up until harvesting.
