A reactive power overexcitation regulation method for synchronous generatorincludesmeasuring a stator voltage, a stator current, an active power and a reactivepower of the generator;calculating the reactive power's allowable upper limit according to theallowable stator current ofstator heating. and calculating the reactive power's allowable minimum statorcurrent accordingto the contact reactance between the generator and the grid; comparing thestator current with itsallowable value, calculating the stator's excess calorific value if a measuredstator current is greaterthan its allowable value, entering reactive power owl-excitation limitingregulation mode, if theexcess calorific value reaches the upper limit of the allowable heating marginof the generator; andusing the greater of the reactive power's allowable upper limit and itsallowable value as the targetof the reactive power regulation to maintain the output reactive power of thegenerator equal to thetarget.
