The deployment and refolding device comprising at least a tape measure (10, 31a, 31b, 31c) having an axis of deployment and refolding parallel to an X axis and a rotor (15, 33) movable in rotation around it. a Y axis perpendicular to the X axis, the measuring tape (10, 31a, 31b, 31c) being able to pass, autonomously, from a state wound around the rotor (33) to an unwound state. The tape measure (10, 31a, 31b, 31c) is mounted folded in half in the shape of a U and has a first end (16) rigidly fixed to a first anchor (5, 36) which can be secured to a stator (14 , 32) or the rotor (15, 33) and a second end (17) wound around the rotor (15, 33).
