The distribution between the flexible rods is 90 to 110 mm.One flexible rod is a hybrid rod containing magnesium, for the purpose of vertebration or spheroidalization. The second flexible rod is used for modification.A flexible hybrid rod containing magnesium has an outer steel coating, an intermediate coating consisting of a powder modifier containing Si, Re, Al, Ca, Ba,Me and R and the middle layer which is a magnet in a solid form. Magnesium content in relation to weight 1 m of the rod is from 45 to 65%.The speed of application of the rod shall be such that the tip of the flexible rod dissolves at the bottom of the vat. The rod is given at a speed from 20 to 35m /min.The quantity of the flexible hybrid rod shall be such that the magnesium content of the iron after the process is equal to that of the ceramic iron from 0009% to 0020%, and for the spheroidal iron from 0,025% to 0,05%.The second flexible rod for modification is a FeSITR alloy with an outer steel coating of a thickness 0,35 mm and a central layer containing: Si 65% TR 8% Ca 1,5% where TR stands for rare earth metals such as Cer, Lantan. The quantity of rods to be modified using silicon, lime and rare earth metals is from 0,1 to 0,3% liquid iron.The rate of application of the rod for modification shall correspond to the length of the rod for spheroidalization or vertebration.Thereafter, the ceramic or spheroidal iron thus prepared shall be poured into the moulds either directly from the vat or using a sealant after mechanical removal of the slag.
