it is a high energy visible light absorption material (hev) for an ophthalmic substrate and application through physical vapor deposition. the hev light-absorbing material is deposited on the ophthalmic substrate, like an optical lens. the hev light-absorbing material is applied through physical vapor deposition. the hev light-absorbing material is applied as a thin layer on ophthalmic substrates for flexibility and color adaptation. the hev light-absorbing material includes at least one of: zinc and aluminum oxide, zinc and indium oxide and zinc and gallium oxide with a material commonly used in the design of anti-reflective absorption materials. the hev light-absorbing coating is anti-reflective and transmits up to 98% light to the rest of the spectrum. the hev light-absorbing material allows the ophthalmic substrate to selectively absorb the included blue light wavelength range from about 400 nm to about 460 nm, so that the flow of blue light into the internal structures of the eye is reduced .
