PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining silver nanoparticles having good physical properties by a method in which an emission amount of an amine having a strong irritating odor is suppressed. SOLUTION: A thermally decomposable silver compound (a) is reacted with an amine compound (b) capable of forming a complex with (a) in an organic solvent to form a complex, and the obtained complex is heated. A method for producing silver nanoparticles, which comprises thermally decomposing silver nanoparticles by thermal decomposition, wherein 5 to 20 parts by weight of water is present per 100 parts by weight of the silver compound (a) at the time of complex formation, and A method for producing silver nanoparticles, which comprises reacting an amine compound and a silver atom in a silver compound in a molar ratio of 0.7 to 2.0.
