The putrefaction suppressing method includes continuously radiating the red light and the far-red light alternately and singly for every 12 hours. Furthermore, the putrefaction suppressing method includes simultaneously irradiating pumpkin after harvesting with the red light and the far-red light continuously for at least 12 hours per day.
