PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a battery by taking necessary life-prolonging measures while monitoring the battery of an emergency power supply in real time, and in particular, to stably maintain the quality of a regenerated lead-acid battery. A method and a battery monitoring life extension device used therein are provided. SOLUTION: A characteristic data acquisition means 13 for periodically acquiring characteristic data of each cell 12 which is a basis for determining deterioration of a battery 11 of an emergency power supply having a plurality of cells 12 and the acquired characteristic data are used. In addition, the deterioration tendency determining means 14 for determining whether or not each cell 12 has a deterioration tendency, and the pulse pattern setting means for setting the supply pattern of the pulse current supplied to the electrodes of each cell 12 based on the determination. It has 15 and a pulse current supply means 16 that supplies a pulse current to the electrodes of each cell 12 according to each set supply pattern. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
