To always select a correct zero-cross time in both forward direction and backward direction, to calculate a correct propagation time.SOLUTION: A method for determining a zero-cross time in a supersonic flowmeter comprises: obtaining a change Δαijk from the previous propagation time difference αi-1 for all of the current propagation time difference candidates αijk; obtaining a change Δβijk from the previous propagation time sum βi-1 for all of the current propagation time sum candidates βijk; and based on the obtained change Δαijk from the previous propagation time difference and the change Δβijk from the previous propagation time sum, determining a current zero-cross time Z1i in a forward direction and a current zero-cross time Z2i in a backward direction among candidates Z1ij of the current zero-cross time in the forward direction and candidates Z2ij of the current zero-cross time in the backward direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 23
