To provide a power and data center for automotive application.SOLUTION: A power and data center (PDC) 105 can function as a combined data collector and power distributor that achieves expandable and available network/power redundancy in an automotive electrical/electronic architecture (E/EA) 100 for supporting a partially or fully autonomous vehicle. In some embodiments, a vehicle including a smart E/EA is divided into zones. Each zone includes one or more PDCs and one or more sensors, actuators, or other devices that are coupled to the zone PDCs and supplied with power. Each PDC collects and processes (or passes) unprocessed or pre-processed sensor data from the one or more sensors in the zone. The sensors provide the data to the PDC through cost-efficient, short-range data links.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
