An object of the invention is to improve the geometric calibration of an imaging device in which radiation is incident on a 2-D detector after passing through a 3-D calibration phantom to produce a 2-D transmission image of the 3-D calibration phantom. For this purpose, a method for determining assignment data in a method for determining a geometry calibration is carried out. The 3-D calibration phantom includes a calibration object having a plurality of calibration elements arranged such that a spatially-based descriptor is projectively invariant. By means of the descriptor, the calibration elements depicted in the 2-D transmission image can be assigned to the calibration elements of the calibration object, so that the geometry calibration is determined on the basis of this assignment and the arrangement of the calibration elements in three-dimensional space and on the 2-D transmission image.
