Provided a computer-implemented method for determining a route plan, the method comprising: receiving locations data, the locations data identifying a plurality of geographical locations (A, B, C, D); receiving and/or determining paths data, the paths data identifying a plurality of paths (VA,B,1, VA,B,2, VB,C,1, VB,C,2, VC,D,1) between the geographical locations (A, B, C, D); receiving event data, the event data identifying at least one event (E1, E2, E3) associated with at least one of the paths, each event having an event time window and an event score; determining the route plan by selecting paths from the path data as selected paths and by selecting a selected paths order specifying the order in which the selected paths are followed. It is an object to provide improved safety and efficiency to transportation. The object is solved by the step of determining the route plan including solving an optimization objective with linear constraints; and wherein the optimization objective and/or the linear constraints include at least one event time window and/or at least one event score.
