The method of compensation of a voltage drop (Vdrop) on a USB cable (3) type C connected between a source device (2) USB type C and a receiver device (4) USB type C, includes a detection phase ( PD) of the cable connection (3) including a delivery by the source device (2) on a channel configuration pin (CC1) of said source device (2) of an offset current (Ios) so as to raise the voltage (Vcc) on the channel configuration pin (CC1) of the source device (2) at a selected reference voltage (Vrefi), and a storage of this offset current (Ios) in the source device (2), and a charging phase (PC), at the end of the detection phase (PD), including an absorption by the source device (2) of an absorption current (Ia) coming from the pin (CC1) of channel configuration of the source device (2) and according to the stored offset current (Ios) and said voltage drop (Vdrop), and a gen by the source device (2), on a supply pin (VBUS) of the source device (2), a compensated supply voltage (Vbus_comp) equal to a reference supply voltage (Vbus ref) increased said voltage drop (Vdrop) to within a tolerance.
